Ok...apologies for being gone for so long! A lot of things have been going down and I've been super busy with school. Anyways this isn't about me Lol. I had the opportunity to interview one of the nicest, most beautiful and talented singer/songwriters that I've known for awhile. She has a voice to be noticed, lyrics to captivate her audiences, and a presence that could cause envy and awe at the same time. Her name is Z Coloratura Chameleon. She is a college student at Middle Tennesee State University and judging by that fact alone, you can tell she's one smart sista. Let's enter the mind of Mrs. Z Colortura Chameleon!:
F: Ok first things first where are you from?
Z: I am originally from Memphis, Tennesee
F: And I'm seriously curious. Your name is very creative and original! Where did you get your name from?
Z: Z Coloratura Chameleon; I found it easier for people to remember my name by saying Z. Its shorter and to the point. Coloratura is my range ability. Chameleon means what it means. I don't like to be fit into a box when it comes to music, but I am quite adaptable to it.
F. Ok ok I can dig that. Now.. If you had to, who would you compare your sound and voice to?
Z: I believe I am indeed unique. I want others to tell me what I sound like. If I could sound like someone else on purpose, I would want Mariah Carey's voice :)
F: You both definitely have something in common! Strong voices with a wide range ability. So...If you could work with anyone in the industry, who would it be and why?
Z: wow... in reality, everyone I love...
F: Lol I think that's everybody's dream. But ok...what would you say is your overall message in your music?
Z:I am in the process of rediscovering myself and my career. My goal is to touch on the reality of what I have faced in life. Not the process of trying to create a hit song that fits the market just to get in. I am seeking a real fan base that can relate to me.
F: That's a major problem in the music industry today. There's too many people wanting to make a hit song instead of trying to make REAL music. So question..how do you feel about the music industry?
Z: This is such a broad question. I feel that is really changing and I am happy independent artist like I have the freedom to express ourselves.
F:Understandable & agreed. What inspires you to create music?
Z: There are so many things that inspire me. One of the things is my desire to have this dream of mine to be a successful renown artist to be my reality and allow me to provide security for my family.
F: Everything will come in due time! Trust that! Now what do you have in the works right now?
Z: I am in the Broadway play named RENT at Mtsu. I play one of the lead parts, MiMi Marquez. That and consistent artist development and networking.
F: I see you doing big things! I'm sure people are curious though...what do you think you have to offer to the music industry? What makes you different?
Z: Here is my ego speaking: if you don't see I'm one of the best, someone else will.
